The plaster thickness is taken as t= 15mm and mix ratio as 1:4. Wall Area (A) = L x H =12×2.6 =31.2 m2 Mortar wet Volume (Vw)= A x t =31.2 x 15/1000 =0.468 m3 To convert from wed to dry volume , we must increase the wet volume by 33%. Add 25% allowance to fill up uneven wall surface and joints. Dry volume (Vd) = Vw x 1.33 x 1.25 = 0.468 *1.33 x 1.25 = 0.778 m3 Mix ratio total 1+4 =5 Cement part=1 Sand part =4 Dry sand volume = (Vd* Sand part)/total ratio = 0.778 x 4/5 = 0.622 m3 Cement Volume = (Vd* Cement part)/total ratio = 0.778 x 1/5 =0.156 m3 The density of cement is 1440 kg/m3 Number of cement bags of 50 kg required for 1m3 =1440/50 =28.8 Bags Volume of one Cement bags = 1/28.8 =0.0347 m3 You could also just say 50/1440 =0.0347 m3 Number of cement bags required= 0.156/0.0347 = 4.5 Bags That’s all!
